What was the topic/project/area of your internship?

Manufacturing Engineering- including process improvement, downtime cutting, report analysis, ergonomic modifications (5S)

Did you get any stipend/scholarship? Was it enough to cover all expenses?

Yes, and yes it was just enough.

What did you learn from your internship?

I learnt in detail some of the processes involved in manufacturing in a lean “six sigma” environment, I got hands-on experience with running some machines and handling operators.
Also very importantly, I gained a lot of general knowledge about the work culture at the manufacturing floor level as well as the upper management corporate level in a superior consumer market such as the US.

Would you like to discuss any problems you faced regarding Visa/Air Tickets etc.

Not as such, but I would like to advise anyone who is looking at doing an internship in the US, to make sure their I-20’s are up-to-date and do not slack on any of the required paperwork. I received a lot of help from HaveIntern team in this regard.

What would you advice prospective students looking for an internship?
Honestly, just a summary of everything above should be good enough as far as my ideas are concerned. Take it seriously- even in times like these, if we look hard enough and give in a 200%, we are sure to have success. Moreover, even though it is good to have an idea of what you want, do not be too picky about what kind of an environment you want to work in or what location you get. The best learning experience is the one where to learn to adjust, your ability to receive to change reflects as your motivation to improve at all times.

Any other thing you would like to discuss?

In general, I would say stay positive- not only about getting or completing and internship in the US, but in India as well- As students, let’s try to learn from the better environment, better standards and try to match them. From my experience so far, there is no optimization in business or in life in general, to be the best you have to base yourself on continuous improvement and be receptive to change. Let’s learn and spread the knowledge.

Alright that’s it from me- MAKE IT A GREAT DAY, TODAY AND EVERYDAY!
